Flying Bird's Founder, Steve Nagai-Ma, has a long-track record of successful social change including:

Guiding the team that built Revolution English, an innovative, free (yet financially sustainable) service that teaches English to more than 1 million immigrants.
Building and supporting a digital channel for the Sierra Club which grew to 150,000 subscribers in 10 months and consistently achieved click-through and donation rates 500% higher than email.
Supporting Planned Parenthood's innovation team, including leadership on a project that now help millions of people access care more effectively.

Steve also founded Live Green (an award-winning social enterprise which was sold to Green America), ran campaigns which led to the passage of a number of progressive laws, co-produced an award-winning documentary, and was named Asian-American of the Year for his tireless work on campaign finance reform.

Working With Steve

Steve offers tailored support to non-profit leaders, funders, and social entrepreneurs. Engagements often last for 3 to 4 months and include strategy sessions with you and your team, trainings, and active engagement in community-centered design to help us determine the best pathways for large-scale impact.

Engagements can also be much shorter or much longer based on your needs.

For projects that require additional capacity and/or a larger team, Steve frequently works through Spring Impact, where he serves as a Senior Advisor.

Why the name "Flying Bird"

I love nature and often marvel at the beauty of a bird in flight. I'm are also mindful of the extraordinary evolutionary process, with successes and failures along the way, that made that flight possible. My goal is to engage in a similar process of learning and improving (but much faster😉) to help your ambitions for social change take flight and soar.
